Forklift simulator

Our client expressed the need for a tool or resource that would allow workers to learn how to safely drive and operate forklifts for different actions within a warehouse (staging in/out, stowage, truck loading/unloading, load location/removal in penetrable/conventional racks). The development was also supposed to measure the operation results, including errors, for each participant (collisions against objects, load displacement, incorrect operation, etc.) to later enable certifications issuance.

Our solution.

At InterBrain we proposed developing a Virtual Reality Simulator with these characteristics:

  • Administration Console: The console runs on a computer with Windows operating system, where the details for the simulation session to be performed, are entered.
  • Scenario Selection Menu: The instructor can choose any of the available options from where the participant is to begin the simulation. The simulator starts with a menu in which 3 options are displayed: Complete Circuit, 2. Machine control, 3. Warehouse.
  • Missions: At the beginning of each of the 9 available missions, the number of pallets is randomly set (from 4 to 10 max.); in addition, numbers of broken pallets (from 0-10% of the total) and of undamaged pallets are also specified, i.e. any mission may or may not have broken pallets regardless of the mission itself. There is also a Free Trial option that allows a quick execution of the warehouse recognition or the implementation of different orders given by the instructor.

The complete Simulator is delivered, including the executable within the computer, a complete tutorial (from its installation to its usage) and hardware (mini pc, video card, Oculus, steering wheel and structure).
